Dogs of Our Founding Fathers and Mothers
Posted by Amy Hempe on
It's soon going to be time to celebrate the writing of the document that turned the world upside down: the Declaration of Independence. As July 4th approaches, let's take a look at what we here at Really Good Pets are most interested in: what kind of dogs did these Founding Fathers & Mothers have? George and Martha Washington George Washington loved his dogs. While his hunting dogs living in a kennel at Mount Vernon, Washington was known to visit them every day. Fox hunting was one of his favorite pastimes, and he desired a hound that was faster than the...
Dealing With Your Growing Puppy

How's that puppy working out for you? They are so stinking cute at two or three months, but that time races by quickly. Now you are at pre-adolescence, a time of needing to explore a little more but with zero sense of what is expected of them. Chewing Your puppy is now in a new awkward stage where they are growing bigger by the hour, with much more control over their limbs. Despite Pride events being cancelled this year due to COVID19, June continues to be Pride Month. If you can't celebrate Pride with a large crowd, you can at least celebrate it with your dog. Dogs show us unconditional love, even when we doubt our worthiness. Their refusal to waver in that love for us makes them the perfect companions for an event that rejoices in tolerance and inclusivity. If you don't have specific Doggy-Pride costumes, homemade is always an option. Look for fun boas and colorful t-shirts and scarves. Rummage through your Halloween and Christmas decorations and outfits and repurpose...
My Favorite Things about DogSheetz

I have two dogs. Two big dogs. Two big, messy dogs. They are dogs who roll in dead grass and love mud. If there is a puddle or a pond near by, they are jumping in. And of course, they hate baths. I try to clean them off as they come into the house, but with the addition of a new dog door, they are now in charge of their coming and going. This means I have messy dog debris strewn from the back door to the sofa. I am not one to put plastic on the floor or carpet...
